Security and police called in to escort Jarrett out of arena
The El Toreo arena in Mexico City nearly erupted in a full-scale riot on Sunday night during an appearance by NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett.
During the main event of the huge AAA “Verano de Escandalo” show in front of over 20,000 spectators, police and extra security had to be called in after fans rushed the ring and threw hundreds of projectiles at Jarrett.
In a total show of disrespect, Jarrett mocked the Mexican spectators and their culture during an in-ring interview. Fans began pelting the star with bolts and rocks, at which point Jarrett further instigated the crowd by throwing tortillas back at them.
Fearing for his safety, Jarrett escaped the deluge and left the ring surrounded by a crowd of police and security. The NWA World Heavyweight Champion was hurried away in a waiting car and escorted back to his hotel by police.
The incident is the second time the World Champion has caused a near-riot at the arena. The first occurred in 2004 during a AAA event.
Jarrett was scheduled to return to Nashville on Monday morning on the first flight out of Mexico City.

Missing Fernley girl found in Mexico
An 8-year-old Fernley girl who authorities say was abducted July 22 by a convicted sex offender and taken to Mexico is safe in Ensenada, Mexico, authorities from Lyon County confirmed Friday night.
Mexican officials are working with U.S. authorities to return Lydia Bethany-Rose Rupp to her mother in Fernley, said Capt. Jeff Page of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The girl’s alleged abductor — 47-year-old Fernando Aguerro — is in the custody of Mexican authorities and is awaiting extradition proceedings, Page said.
Lydia and Aguerro were found at a shelter for low-income people, Page said.

Mexican police respond to protests after death in Mexico City women's prison
Dozens of riot police on Monday poured into a women's jail in eastern Mexico City to quell protests after an inmate died of an apparent heart attack.
Protesters at Santa Martha Acatitla prison hung burning clothes from the windows along with protest signs proclaiming "no more death" and "we are innocent."
There were no injuries in the protests following the death of one inmate from natural causes, said Pedro Aguilar, a spokesman for the city corrections department.
Prison officials met in the afternoon with inmate leaders to listen to grievances.

Tagliabue pumped about game in Mexico

Cardinals coach Dennis Green has said that receivers Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald should catch seven to eight passes and a touchdown a game.
Against San Francisco in Mexico City, Boldin had eight catches for 116 yards and a touchdown and Fitzgerald had seven passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.

Thousands of protesters set up barricades along Mexico Citys central thoroughfare Sunday night hours after the largest demonstration in Mexicos history filled the main square in support of leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obradors election challenge.
Police made no effort to intervene as the protesters set up tents and blocked traffic, apparently in response to Lopez Obradors call for the establishment of 47 permanent assemblies to press his claims of fraud in the July 2 elections.
