Mexico post victory over Guatemala; Trinidad & Tobago tops Panama on Match Day 9
Mexico posted a victory over Guatemala, while Trinidad & Tobago topped Panama in encounters in San Luis Potosi and Ciudad de Panamá, respectively, during Match Day 9 of the CONCACAF Final Round of World Cup Qualification on Saturday evening.
Jose Francisco Fonseca scored four times, while Guillermo Franco added another for Mexico (7-1-1, 22 Points) in the 5:2 victory over Guatemala (2-5-2, 8 Points) at the Estadio Potosino Alfonso Lastras.
Meanwhile, Stern John had the only goal of the match for Trinidad & Tobago (3-5-1, 10 Points) in the 1:0 win over Panama (0-7-2, 2 Points) at the Estadio Rommel Fernández.

Francisco Fonseca scored four goals as Mexico defeated Guatemala 5-2 on Saturday in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier, damaging Guatemala's chances for making the tournament.
Mexico and the United States already have qualified for the 2006 World Cup, and Costa Rica claimed the third berth Saturday by beating the Americans at home.
The fourth-place team in the region - likely Guatemala or Trinidad and Tobago - will face either Bahrain or Uzbekistan in a two-game playoff.

Mexico needs draw to secure WC berth
Mexico needs only a draw Wednesday at home against Panama to secure a World Cup berth and perhaps mend its wounded pride after Saturday's 2-0 loss to the United States.
The trip to Germany next year would be Mexico's 13th appearance in the World Cup finals and fourth straight.

Despite the euphoria surrounding Trinidad & Tobago’s 1-0 win over Panama on Saturday, captain Dwight Yorke is already looking ahead to the clash against giants Mexico in the last match of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying final round tomorrow.
Trinidad & Tobago can guarantee themselves a place in the play offs in the Asian Confederation Zone in November once they can secure a win against the Mexicans at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain.

Striker Jared Borgetti was named in Mexico's squad for their World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica this month just hours after signing for English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.
Borgetti, Mexico's joint all-time top scorer with 35 goals, signed a two-year deal with Bolton on Thursday and was presented to the British media at their Reebok Stadium on Friday.

Canada's under-20 women's soccer team continued its run towards another CONCACAF title with a 3-2 victory over host Mexico on Sunday.
Canada topped Group A and now awaits a semifinal opponent.
