Mexico beats Hungary in friendly
Francisco Fonseca and Joel Huiqui both scored goals in each half and Mexico beat Hungary 2-0 Wednesday night in an exhibition match.
The win was the first in seven games against a European team for Mexico since Ricardo La Volpe took over as national coach after the 2002 World Cup.
The exhibition was part of the Mexico's five-game U.S. tour in preparation for the World Cup in Germany next year.
Fonseca scored on a header from about 10 yards out in the 32nd minute. Juan Pablo Rodriguez crossed the ball to Fonseca off a corner kick and

The match was even through the first 53 minutes, but then Oguchi Onyewu deflected teammate Eddie Lewis's free kick in front of Mexico's goal.
Mexican goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez sprawled across the goalmouth to try to stop Onyewu and when the shot ricocheted off the goalpost, Steve Ralston
Mexico Cager Courts Success At Empire Games
Kevin Fowler was in mid-flight, readying himself to throw a dunk down the throat of Syracuse center Darryl Watkins in an exhibition game on Nov. 1 in the Carrier Dome.
It was an ambitious thought, considering Fowler was playing in his first college game as a freshman on NCAA Division IIs Saint Rose basketball team. In fact, his last action in a competitive basketball game before that was in the 2005 state final in Glens Falls as a senior on Mexicos varsity basketball team.
Watkins was having none of the dunk.

Football: Mexico City to stage NFL game
merican 'tackle' football is coming to Mexico. The National Football League (NFL) announced the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers would play the first regular-season contest outside the United States on October 2nd.
If the game is well received, it could mean more NFL games played outside the United States.
The league will evaluate all of the markets that have indicated an interest in hosting games around the world, including several in Europe, Canada, Asia, according to Roger Goodell, the league's executive vice president.
Goodell spoke at a news conference to talk about the
Mexico has point to make in World Cup tune-up
There is nothing friendly or relaxed about tonight's exhibition soccer match between Mexico and Bulgaria at Reliant Stadium. At least not to the Mexican players and coaches.
Tricolores head coach Ricardo La Volpe made that clear by closing practice at the Texans' outdoor field Tuesday.
At practice's end, the Profe — short for professor in Spanish — calmly walked away without uttering a word as hordes of media invaded the field, as if saying to his pupils: "Take care of it. You know what to do."
Apparently they do. And they hope to prove it
U.S. blanks Mexico, earns World Cup spot
There was no better way for the United States to make the World Cup than with a shutout victory over Mexico.
The Americans are headed to next year's soccer championship in Germany after beating the Mexicans 2-0 Saturday night thanks to goals by Steve Ralston and DaMarcus Beasley five minutes apart in the second half.
"We had one blemish on our record when we lost in Mexico City," coach Bruce Arena said, "and it was nice to get that back, and it was very special to qualify against our archrivals."
U.S. star Landon Donovan said it

Borgetti, who had to be replaced with a leg injury in Monday mornings (AEST) 3-1 World Cup victory over Iran, will certainly be out of action for eight to 10 days, team doctor Jose Luis Serrano told reporters.

NFL's Mexican foray more peddling than expansion
So what does Mexico City have that Toronto does not?
Well, it has a population of 18.1 million, for one thing. At last count, it was home to 161 museums and 344 hospitals. There are World Cups and Olympics in its sporting resume.
Plus, tonight it has the first regular season NFL game played outside the United States. Eat your heart out T.O. (and, no we're not talking Terrell Owens here).
Paul Godfrey, the former Metro chairman and current president of the Blue Jays is heading up a "fact finding" delegation at tonight's game, expected to attract
