Body of young girl found in suitcase in Mexico
Police discovered the body of a young girl on Thursday that had been stuck inside a suitcase and left on a busy sidewalk in Mexico City.
Investigators were working to identify the girl, thought to be between 5 and 6 years old, and establish the cause of death, a police spokeswoman said.
She was found inside the suitcase, dressed but missing her shoes and wrapped in a jacket, by a police patrol in the district of Tacuba on Thursday morning.

Missing Fernley girl found in Mexico
An 8-year-old Fernley girl who authorities say was abducted July 22 by a convicted sex offender and taken to Mexico is safe in Ensenada, Mexico, authorities from Lyon County confirmed Friday night.
Mexican officials are working with U.S. authorities to return Lydia Bethany-Rose Rupp to her mother in Fernley, said Capt. Jeff Page of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The girl’s alleged abductor — 47-year-old Fernando Aguerro — is in the custody of Mexican authorities and is awaiting extradition proceedings, Page said.
Lydia and Aguerro were found at a shelter for low-income people, Page said.
Body Is That of Model; Lover May Be in Mexico
A decomposing body found at a storage facility was identified Friday as that of a 21-year-old aspiring model whose millionaire lover has vanished.
Iryna Singerman's body and purse were found in the bed of a pickup owned by her lover, Brian Joseph Cullen, 59, authorities said. Police believe Cullen has gone to Mexico.
A cause of death had not been determined, Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. David Smith said.

Ariz. man drowns after trying to save niece in Mexico
A Tucson man has lost his life in Mexico after trying to save the life of his 5-year-old niece.
It occurred in the Gulf of California resort city of Puerto Penasco - commonly known as Rocky Point in Arizona.

A young woman from Saudi Arabia who disappeared in St. Paul last week has apparently been found in Tijuana, Mexico. Family members said they had no details of her condition, or how she got to Mexico.
St. Paul police were notified by Mexican officials that they believed Noora Salim, 21, had been found there. They requested that her passport be sent to Mexico.

A convicted sex offender who ran off to Mexico with a 16-year-old Long Island girl has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and sodomy.
Lester Joy, 25, of Morristown, N.J., said he met the girl on the Internet and went to her house in Hampton Bays on Jan. 31, 2005.
He said he and the girl climbed out of the window and fled to Mexico.

Three caches of pre-Columbian artifacts seized at the U.S.-Mexico border were returned to Mexico last week, including objects believed washed away by rain from the El Tajin ruins near Veracruz.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials returned the 140 stone figurines and other objects to Deputy Mexican Consul Ernesto Herrera at a news conference Thursday at the Hidalgo International Bridge.
The items were seized in 2004 during two inspections at the Rio Grande City port of entry and one inspection at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.
