For the past ten years, under the direction of Sylvia Pandolfi and her dynamic team of curators, the Carrillo Gil has devoted its programme of temporary exhibits to introducing and presenting a younger generation of Mexican and international artists. Visitors to the museum not only get a chance to admire the great masters of Mexican painting, but also have the opportunity to discover some of the most talented young artists of our time.
The Carrillo Gil is the only museum in Mexico that has cutting edge video equipment. These resources have meant that the artists can explore different possibilities and create technically complicated projects. The museum is continuously redefining contemporary art rather that relying on the strength of its permanent collection. Other activities that are part of the Carrillo Gil’s programme include seminars on art history, film and music, as well as painting and literature workshops for children.
