MOSCOW, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin told Mexican President Vicente Fox today that Russia would provide Mexico with liquefied gas from Sakhalin.
“We are developing a series of major economic projects, including in the energy sector,” the Russian leader said. “I am pleased to say that liquefied gas will be delivered to the Mexican coast from Sakhalin, with part of it remaining in your country.”
Chinese FM meets with counterparts from Russia, Bolivia, Mexico
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met Monday with his counterparts from Russia, Bolivia and Mexico on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Li said Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met for many times, and reached new and important consensus on how to deepen the bilateral relationship.

Sasken plans development center in Mexico
Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd has announced its plans to set up its international Development and Support Center in Nuevo Leon in Mexico, where it a wholly owned subsidiary, Sasken Communication Technologies Mexico.
Sasken Mexico's 12,000 sq ft development and support centre in Monterrey, in the Apodaca Industrial Park will be able to accommodate 100+ engineers. The process for hiring the required engineers has already been initiated. The facility will be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2006. This center will focus primarily on Embedded System Software Development.

Sempra builds 1st LNG terminal in Mexico
In late 2003, Sempra Energy's bid to build the first liquefied natural gas terminal in western North America was in deep trouble. Plans to import gas from Bolivia sparked a popular uprising that killed dozens of people and toppled the government there.
Today, Sempra is leading the race. It turned to Indonesia for the gas, and is building a $1-billion plant on Mexico's pristine coastline, just 50 miles south of San Diego. The terminal, to be completed in early 2008, will be a key fuel source for California homes and businesses for decades to come.

GE Unit Wins Contract From Mexico Utility
GE Energy said Thursday it was awarded a contract by Mexico's state-owned electric utility to expand output capacity at the country's only nuclear power plant.
In a news release, the unit of General Electric Co. said the contract from the Federal Electricity Commission, or CFE, is to initially provide safety and licensing evaluations for plans to increase output by 20 percent at the Laguna Verde plant in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz.

Senate Pushes Expanded Oil Drilling in Gulf of Mexico
In the 1980s, Senators and Representatives introduced legislation to protect the Gulf of Mexico, to restrict drilling. This Congress plans to expand drilling. This week the Senate quadrupled the Presidents request (map - pdf) for new acreage in the Gulf of Mexico.

GE Energy's Nuclear Business Wins Contract to Boost Mexico Nuclear Plant's Output
GE Energy's nuclear business has been awarded a contract to support the next phase of a Mexico utility's preparations for an extended power uprate (EPU) at the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant in Mexico.
Originally designed by GE, each of Laguna Verde's two boiling water reactors (BWRs) has an output of 695 megawatts. The plant is located in the state of Veracruz, 70 kilometers northwest of the city of Veracruz and 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Jalapa, the state capital, along the Gulf Coast.
