UPDATE 1-New Bolton striker Borgetti in Mexico squad
Striker Jared Borgetti was named in Mexico’s squad for their World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica this month just hours after signing for English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.
Borgetti, Mexico’s joint all-time top scorer with 35 goals, signed a two-year deal with Bolton on Thursday and was presented to the British media at their Reebok Stadium on Friday.
He was included in Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe’s 20-man squad, posted on the Mexican federation’s official website, for the Concacaf zone qualifier at Mexico City’s Azteca stadium on August 17.
The only other European-based player in the squad is Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez.
Mexico lead the final round six-team group with 13 points from five games. The U.S., who are at home to Trinidad & Tobago on the same day, are one point behind, with Costa Rica third on seven points.
The top three nations qualify for the 2006 finals in Germany while the fourth, a position at present shared on points by Trinidad and Guatemala, play off against an Asian team for another berth. Panama, who visit Guatemala next, are bottom.

Mexico striker Borgetti to join Bolton
Mexico's joint all-time record goalscorer Jared Borgetti is on the point of signing for English Premier League club Bolton Wanderers, his present club Pachuca said.
The player known as the Desert Fox, who scored his 35th goal for Mexico in last Sunday's 4-0 win over Guatemala at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States, will become the first Mexican player to join an English club if the move goes through.
"The club has accepted the offer from Bolton for the transfer of the forward," said a statement on Pachuca's official website.

MEXICAN skipper Jared Borgetti wants to go to Bolton - and has told his club Pachuca to sell him to Sam Allardyce's side.
Bolton have bid £900,000 - less than German clubs Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt have offered. But striker Borgetti, 31, top scorer for his country, is keen to come to England on a two-year deal and fulfil a dream. And he has such stature in his homeland he can sway Pachuca to do business.

Mexico call-up for Argentines
Mexico have called up uncapped Argentine-born forward Guillermo Franco and striker Luis Angel Landin for a World Cup warm-up against fellow finalists Ghana next Wednesday (Thursday AEDT).
Coach Ricardo La Volpe also recalled Bolton Wanderers striker Jared Borgetti to an 18-man squad but he overlooked the experienced Cuauhtemoc Blanco.
The match will be played across the US border at the Pizza Hut stadium in the Texan city of Frisco.
Mexico are in Group D with Angola, Iran and Portugal at the World Cup in Germany. Ghana are in Group E with Italy, Czech Republic and the US.
Fatigue not a problem for Mexico striker Borgetti
Many of the worlds top players are likely to arrive at the World Cup weary from a long hard European season.
Not so, Mexico striker Jared Borgetti.
The 32-year-old, his countrys all-time leading scorer with 37 goals in 74 outings, became the first Mexican to play in the English Premier League when he signed for Bolton Wanderers before the 2005-06 season.
What appeared to be a dream move late in his career has turned to frustration for Borgetti, who was restricted to less than a handful of starts all season.

Mexico recall veteran Suarez
Veteran defender Claudio Suarez was named in Mexico's squad for Wednesday's (Thursday AEDT) friendly against Paraguay.
Nicknamed the Emperor, Suarez has been picked sporadically by coach Ricardo La Volpe in the last two years. His last appearance was in the 2-0 win over Hungary in December.
Mexico are using Wednesday's (Thursday AEDT) game in Chicago as the latest in a series of warm-ups for the World Cup where they will face Iran, Angola and Portugal in their first round group.
La Volpe also included striker Jared Borgetti in the squad although his presence could depend on negotiations
WANDERERS GO DOWN MEXICO WAY
Bolton are close to signing Mexico striker Jared Borgetti.
The 31-year-old arrived in the UK on Friday and as well as negotiating with the club he is also undergoing a medical at the Reebok Stadium.
Should the deal be completed he would be the first Mexican to play in the English top flight.
A report on the club's official website www.bwfc.co.uk read: "The club are hopeful that a deal can be done with Mexico's leading goalscorer over the next 48 hours."
Bolton are believed to be willing to pay his current club Pachuca just short of £1million for his services.

Mexico, who have already booked a berth at next year's World Cup, called up Argentine-born striker Guillermo Franco for their remaining two qualifiers while Cuauhtemoc Blanco was again overlooked.
The possibility of a call-up for Monterrey's Franco had re-ignited a fierce debate over the presence of foreign-born players in the squad.
