Mexico shattered Iran’s hopes for advancement to the last eight of the football tournament of the 23rd Universiade here Sunday.
Iran, which was a draw from quarterfinals, presented the place to Mexico as the South American side won the deciding match 3-1.
Both sides collected four points, but Mexico joined the already qualified Czech on goal difference.
Mexico netted twice before the interval and added another in the second half to beat the nine-man Iran.
The Iranian squad beat England 2-1 in their opening match, but it was held by the Czech to a 2-2 tie.

Iran fought back magnificently to peg Mexico to 1-1 at the interval in their opening Group D clash on Sunday.
After Mexico took the lead through Omar Bravo in the 28th minute when he flicked in after a free kick by Pavel Pardo, Iran levelled in the 36th minute.
Their equaliser came from Yahya Golmohammadi when he pounced on a loose ball from a corner by Mehdi Mahdavikia.

Friedrichshafen, Germany - Veteran Iran striker Ali Daei will start his sides opening World Cup match against Mexico in Nuremburg on June 11, coach Branko Ivankovic said on Monday.
Though Iran beat a local team of part-time players 5-0 in Friedrichshafen on Monday, Daei failed to have any impact before he was replaced at half-time.

Iran probably win oil contracts in Mexico,Nigeria
Ahmad Azimi, managing director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC), said that his company would probably win two major offshore oil contracts in Mexico and Nigeria, MNA said.
He explained that the projects consisted of offshore pipe-laying or installing oil platforms. He added that the details of the projects would be announced after the negotiations are finalized.
Azimi put the value of Mexico offshore project at $500 mln, noting that the discussions on the Nigerian project are underway.
