Ziff Davis Launches Foreign Editions in Brazil, Russia and Mexico
Ziff Davis announced today that it has joined forces with several leading international media partners, Editorial Televisa, Conrad Editora and (game) Land, to launch three new foreign editions of PC Magazine and Sync. These new foreign editions, which will provide product reviews, expert advice and entertaining features, to serve the demands of IT professionals and consumers in the world’s fastest growing and emerging technology markets.
Conrad Editora, one of Brazil’s leading media companies, will publish PC Magazine Brasil, beginning in August 2005. Chinese FM meets with counterparts from Russia, Bolivia, Mexico
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met Monday with his counterparts from Russia, Bolivia and Mexico on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Li said Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met for many times, and reached new and important consensus on how to deepen the bilateral relationship.
China will cooperate closely with Russia to translate the consensus into action, and to enhance the development of bilateral relations, Li stressed.

MOSCOW, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin told Mexican President Vicente Fox today that Russia would provide Mexico with liquefied gas from Sakhalin.
"We are developing a series of major economic projects, including in the energy sector," the Russian leader said. "I am pleased to say that liquefied gas will be delivered to the Mexican coast from Sakhalin, with part of it remaining in your country."

Metro International and Mxshares SA de C.V. are entering a joint venture to publish a new edition of the free Metro newspaper in Mexico City.
Metro International SA, which publishes newspapers from Santiago to Helsinki, will publish a new edition of its free Metro newspaper in Mexico City through a local joint venture to tap the country's growing advertising market.

Mexico ex-mayor launches poll bid
The former mayor of Mexico City has registered his candidacy for next year's presidential race.
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador signed up as a candidate for the Democratic Revolution Party's nomination, after stepping down as mayor on Friday.
Opinion polls suggest he is currently the favourite to win the poll.
Earlier this year he was the subject of a failed legal attempt to bar him from standing. About one million Mexicans rallied in the capital to support him.

The leader of Mexico's Zapatista rebel movement emerged from hiding and for the first time in four years showed his masked face to the public, launching a broadside against the country's politicians.

Markets in the Americas continued their bull run into 2006 on Wednesday, with a second day of record-setting closes in both Brazil and Mexico.
Brazilian shares surged to another record-high close with the help of foreign and domestic funds snapping up blue chips and building portfolios for what is expected to be a banner year.
The benchmark Bovespa stock index closed 1.3% higher at 35002 points, edging over the psychologically daunting 35000-point barrier and topping the previous record-high close of 34541 points set Tuesday. Volume was heavy in Sao Paulo.

Google opens offices in Brazil, Mexico
Search engine Google Inc. on Thursday said that it has opened offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Mexico City, as it looks to accelerate growth in Latin America.
The offices will be charged with boosting use of Google Web sites and increasing advertising sales in the region for the Mountain View, California-based Internet company.
The Mexico operation is led by Gonzalo Alonso, formerly sales director for the T1MSN Internet service. Google's operation in Brazil is managed by Alexandre Hohagen, who was previously Brazil general manager for HBO.

Mexico and Brazil stocks slid Wednesday, pulled down by weakness in U.S. equities.
Traders said a late-session dip in the Dow Jones industrial average prompted some selling in Latin American markets.
The Dow lost 1.20 points, or 0.01 percent, to 11,102.51 after rising a total of 230 points the first two days this week.
Brazils benchmark Ibovespa stocks index ended 0.24 percent lower at 36,681 points in thin volume.
