President Roh Set to Depart for Mexico
President Roh Moo-hyun, accompanied by the First Lady, will depart Korea on Thursday to make state visits to Mexico and Costa Rica and attend the upcoming UN summit in New York. During his two-day stay in Mexico on Friday and Saturday, President Roh will meet with Mexican President Vicente Fox and discuss plans to promote bilateral cooperation. He will also meet with local Koreans to mark the 100th anniversary of Korean immigration to Mexico and encourage the descendents of Korean immigrants.
President Roh will spend Sunday and Monday in Costa Rice, meeting with President Abel Pacheco, and will also meet with the leaders of eight other Central American nations during a meeting of the Central American Integration System, or SICA,
From Tuesday, President Roh will attend the 60th UN summit in New York. Through his keynote address on Thursday, President Roh plans to present his vision of the construction of an international order of world peace and mutual prosperity. He will hold summit meetings with Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Algeria, and is scheduled to speak at an invitational dinner of the Korea Society.

S.Korean president to visit US, Mexico, Costa Rica
South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will visit the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica early next month, Roh's spokesman Kim Man-soo said Monday.
The president will first fly to Mexico City on Sept. 8 for a four-day state visit there, during which Roh will hold summit meeting with his Mexican counterpart Vicente Fox on ways to enhance their comprehensive cooperative relationship in security and trade, said Kim.

Chavez Frias tells Mexico's President Vicente Fox not to mess with him
During a radio address to the nation, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias has told Mexican President Vicente fox not to mess with him.
The remark is likely to exacerbate even more relations between the two Heads of State.
The President used a phrase from the Venezuelan traditional duet, Florentino and the Devil to answer Fox's accusations against him and Argentinean President Nestor Kirchner.

VP Rangel rules out apologies to Mexico
Vice-President José Vicente Rangel reiterated Thursday that Venezuela will not apologize for the remarks made by President Hugo Chávez on the Mexican government and President Vicente Fox.
The clarification was made when the Mexican government spokesman commented that Mexico could wait for an apology.
"It is not a matter of offering apologies. I said already that they would rather take a seat and wait for it, because our decision is final. It is up to them to look for a comfortable chair," Rangel told reporters after a ceremony with the participation of trade unions.

Mexico is to ponder breaking relations with Venezuela if "President (Hugo) Chávez continues to offend the (Mexican) people," said Mexican President Vicente Fox' spokesman Rubén Aguilar late Thursday.
"You know President Vicente Fox has said that if things continue this way, this possibility could be considered, but always as the last resort," Aguilar said in a phone interview from Pusan, Korea, where is accompanying President Fox.

MEXICO CITY President-elect Felipe Calderon promised Thursday he would work tirelessly to construct a nation of equal opportunities and thanked outgoing President Vicente Fox for laying the groundwork for that goal.

Chinese President to visit U.S, Canada and Mexico in September
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Friday that Chinese President Hu Jintao plans to visit the United States, Canada and Mexico from Sept. 5 to 17.
The White House said this week President George W. Bush would host Hu on Sept. 7.
China and the U.S. have gone through months of rising trade friction as well as growing cooperation on trying to stop North Korea's nuclear arms ambitions.

Howard Dean traveled south of the border to meet with Mexico's presidential contenders Monday, and lashed out at the Bush administration's policies on Mexico.
Dean, the Democratic National Committee chairman, claimed President Bush "turned his back on Mexico'' after it refused to support the Iraq war.
